Licensing

Anyone engaging in plumbing, gas fitting, electrical, or mechanical contracting must register annually and pay a fee of $100. Applicants must furnish an occupational license per LA R.S. 47:362, a valid and relevant certificate of registration, and a valid current insurance certificate. Registrations expire March 31 of each year, and late registrations will be subject to penalties. Applicants are responsible for remembering to renew.

Registration:

Complete all portions of the application process and return to the Licenses and Registrations Office in Government Tower.

• Obtain a copy of your occupational license from the jurisdiction or domicile.
• Obtain a copy of a valid and relevant Certificate of Registration issued by the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors or registration authority.
• Obtain a copy of your valid current License Certificate documenting at least the minimum amount of general liability insurance coverage required for state registration and licensing purposes.
• Obtain the signature of the applicant that holds the valid registration(s).
• If maintaining the registration, complete the mailed application indicating this and return signed.
